PESTS & PROBLEMS

Tiny green, black, or white bugs clustered on new growth? That’s a sure sign of aphids—soft-bodied pests that feed on plant sap and can quickly weaken or deform your herbs. They're especially attracted to basil, mint, parsley, and tomatoes.
Here’s how to spot them early and get rid of them fast, without chemicals.
What Are Aphids?
Aphids are small, pear-shaped insects that suck the sap out of leaves, stems, and flower buds. They reproduce rapidly, and some even give birth to live young. You might notice:
Distorted or curling leaves
Sticky residue (called honeydew)
A trail of ants “farming” them for that sugary sap
Sooty black mold growing on leaves due to honeydew
Where Aphids Usually Hide
Undersides of leaves
New leaf shoots and buds
Along tender stems
Near the base of the plant or pot rim
